Proof of assets translation

Proof of assets is a set of documents rather than a single document, establishing a person's financial circumstances: land registry records, vehicle registrations, bank deposit letters, rental income documents and company ownership records are typical parts of this file. It is required for visa applications, family reunification, scholarships and collateral transactions.

Consistency is essential in the translation of these files: each document is translated separately, but personal and institutional names, addresses and amount formats are presented consistently throughout. As consulates read the file as a whole, even the smallest inconsistency between its parts can lead to a request for additional documents.

Which institutions request this document?

  • Consulates — as proof of financial means in visa files
  • Immigration authorities — for family reunification and residence applications
  • Foreign schools — in scholarship and financial guarantee files
  • Foreign banks

Certification requirements

Is notarisation required?

A sworn translation is usually sufficient for consular files; notarization may be required for administrative applications.

Is an apostille required?

It may be required for land registry and official registration documents depending on the country; it does not apply to bank letters.

There is no universal rule. The institution requesting the document determines its certification requirements. The information above describes common practice. Tell us which institution you are applying to and we will help clarify the required certification.

Preparing your document

  • Send all documents in the file at once to establish consistency throughout
  • Make sure the bank letters are recently dated
  • If you know the order on the application list, provide it; the delivery file is arranged in that order

Frequently asked questions

Are e-Devlet land registry and vehicle records accepted?

Many consulates accept barcoded e-Devlet records together with their translations; some require a letter from the land registry directorate. The wording on the application list governs.

Are amounts converted into the target currency?

No; amounts and currency are preserved unchanged. Institutions requiring currency equivalents calculate them using their own dated exchange rates; no exchange rate interpretation is added to the translation.
