Sworn Translation

A sworn translation is certified with the stamp and signature of a translator who has completed the oath procedure before a notary. This certification contains the translator's declaration that the translation accurately reflects the source document.

Some institutions accept the sworn translator's stamp and signature alone, while others require the translation to be additionally certified by a notary. We therefore clarify the receiving institution's requirements before starting the procedure.

When requesting a translation from Turkish into another language or vice versa, please state the country and procedure for which the document will be used. The same diploma may be subject to different formatting and certification requirements for a job application and an official qualification equivalency file. If you have the institution's document checklist or an example of its translation requirements, you can send it with your document.

Scope

How is the type of certification determined? Sworn translation and notarised translation are separate procedures, and not every institution accepts both. Tell us which institution will receive your document and we will help clarify the certification it requires.

Translation process

  1. Reviewing the document and application requirements

Share all pages of the document, the source and target languages, the receiving institution and any deadline. Illegible sections, missing pages and the institution's required certification are assessed before work begins.

  2. Agreeing the scope, fee and delivery

The text, stamps, endorsements and attachments to be translated are reviewed together. Translation fees and any notary and courier charges are explained separately; translation begins once you approve the agreed scope and delivery date.

  3. Translation and comparison with the source

Given names and surnames, dates, identity or document numbers, table rows and notes in the source document are checked. If the same person or institution appears in multiple documents, consistency of spelling is also reviewed.

  4. Delivery with the required certification

The translation, bearing the sworn translator's stamp and signature, is provided in the agreed delivery format. Notarisation is considered separately if requested. Submitting and managing apostille and consular legalisation applications is outside the scope of our services.

What determines the delivery time?

  • Document length and the number of tables and attachments: a one-page identity document and a comprehensive course-description file do not take the same time to prepare.
  • The legibility of the source document, handwritten entries or faded stamps, and obtaining any missing pages.
  • The source–target language pair, specialist terminology and any separate need for notarisation.
  • A definite turnaround time is not given before reviewing the document. Sharing your application deadline at the outset helps us plan delivery.

How is the price determined?

  • The amount of text to be translated, language pair, specialist subject matter and any table or page-layout work.
  • If the document's apostille endorsement, stamps or attachments are included in the translation, they are assessed together at the quotation stage.
  • Translation fees, notary fees and courier costs are separate items. If your institution does not require notarisation, the request and scope are agreed accordingly.

Quality and review

  • Differences between the document and the spelling reference you provide, such as a passport, are checked for identity and contact details; names are not changed by guesswork.
  • Amounts, dates, numbers and notes are compared with the source text. The translation does not replace the institution's own assessment or qualification equivalency decision.
  • We request a clearer document for illegible or missing sections; missing information is not addressed by adding new information to the translation.

What to prepare for a quotation

  • Send all pages, including the reverse side and attachments, without cropping corners or stamps.
  • State the source and target languages, the country and institution where the document will be submitted, and the type of procedure.
  • Share any written requirement from the institution concerning sworn translation, notarisation, paper copies or digital delivery.
  • Provide the reference required for spelling names and your application deadline; for sensitive documents, do not add unnecessary personal information to your message.

Frequently asked questions

Is a sworn translation valid at every institution?

No. Some institutions accept only notarised translations. Send us the requirements of the institution you are applying to and we will prepare the document accordingly.

Is the original document required?

A legible scan or photo is usually sufficient for a sworn translation. The original or a certified copy may be required at the notarisation stage.

Are sworn translation and notarised translation the same procedure?

No. A translation bearing a sworn translator's stamp and signature and its additional certification by a notary are separate stages. The receiving institution's current requirements determine which is needed.

Is sending only the first page sufficient for a quotation?

You need to send the entire file. Reverse sides, attachments, stamps and endorsements may affect the amount of text and the checks required; a definite scope cannot be established from incomplete images.

Are English translations accepted in every country?

There is no single acceptance rule that applies to every institution. An institution may require a particular language, type of certification or translator qualification. Please share the institution's written requirements before the document is prepared.

Do you also manage the apostille procedure?

We do not submit or manage apostille or consular legalisation applications. We can provide information about preparing the required translation and translate the source document and its existing endorsements together where they are within the agreed scope.
