The Place of Residence and Other Address Certificate — commonly called a residence certificate — shows a person's registered address. It is requested for opening bank accounts abroad, tax registration and residence permit applications.
The document can be obtained through e-Devlet with a barcode. As acceptance of barcoded printouts varies by institution, an originally signed copy from the civil registry office may be needed if notarization is required.
Which institutions request this document?
- Foreign banks — for opening accounts
- Tax authorities — for taxpayer registration and double taxation procedures
- Immigration authorities — for residence applications
- Consulates — as an attachment to a visa file
Certification requirements
Notarization is frequently required for banking and tax procedures.
As an administrative document, its apostille is obtained from the provincial or district governor's office.
There is no universal rule. The institution requesting the document determines its certification requirements. The information above describes common practice. Tell us which institution you are applying to and we will help clarify the required certification.
Preparing your document
- The document is generally required to have been issued within the past month
- Confirm whether the institution accepts a barcoded e-Devlet printout
- Make sure the address information is current
Frequently asked questions
How long is the document valid?
The requesting institution sets the period; common practice is to require issue within the past month.
My address is abroad. Can I use my address certificate from Türkiye?
If you reside abroad, institutions generally require an address certificate from the country where you live. Your registration in Türkiye serves a different purpose.
